Track Systems Technician - CCR

To help deliver against this global vision we are seeking a Track Systems Technician to sit within the CCR team based in our Media & Technology Centre in Biggin Hill.

The team are responsible for our CCR (Circuit Communication Ring) connecting and maintaining the large temporary fibre optic network and related transmission equipment for the transport of broadcast and IP.

In this role, you will be part of our Track Systems team, helping commission and run our “fibre optic backbone” at a number of Grand Prix events around the world and at our Remote Operations Centre in Biggin Hill.

The Role:

  • Test and commission the CCR (Circuit Communication Ring) fibre optic network and its related equipment for the transfer of video/data/audio/comms at a circuit during an event.

  • Able to provide support to test, service and terminate fibre using a variety of connectors. This includes OTDR testing, fusion splicing, fibre termination and installation of fibre optic cable.

  • Competent technical fault finding skills are required to maintain the fibre network and its related equipment. This includes being able to analyse optical and other data results and provide appropriate solutions.

  • Maintain the upkeep of equipment list/manifests, liaise with freight department and order new consumables and technical products when requested.

  • Support team members in preparing race event planning documentation.

About You

You’re able to communicate clearly and remain calm under pressure. You can travel frequently to perform an operational role at international circuits for sometimes over two weeks at a time. In return you will get to work in a rewarding environment like no other.

You have:

  • A qualification in a physical science or engineering discipline or equivalent vocational training in a relevant industrial environment (electronic, electrical, broadcasting or telecoms).

  • An understanding of TCP/IP Ethernet networks.

  • Proven experience and understanding of technical wiring diagrams.

  • Ability and knowhow on best practice fault finding skills

  • The willingness to work long, unsociable hours both in the UK and overseas
