Track Mechanic

Job Purpose

The position of Track Mechanic for Exotics Racing generally serves as a high-performance engine technician, professionally responsible for keeping track vehicles running as smoothly and efficiently as possible. Track Mechanic will typically work on maintaining high-performance vehicles.  Using acquired technical skills, the Mechanic tests the cars to ensure they are operating correctly and identify immediate problems; will ‘test and tune’ track side for any potential malfunctions.

Essential Job Functions

  • Verify vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives, adjusting controls and systems, checking tire pressures, body of   cars, etc.
  • Prepping cars; checking tire pressure and torque; display keys on windshield, etc.
  • Maintain vehicle functional condition by listening to operator feedback; conducting inspections.
  • Responsible for checking fuel levels
  • Maintain vehicle records by recording service and repairs.
  • Prepare list of vehicles for Lead Pit Lane Host and work closely with Pit Lane to ensure efficiency
  • Ensures communication with track and shop team to ensure coverage is provided for vehicles that are out-of-service
  • Notifies all designated departments (FSM, office, track, shop) during the day of vehicles that are out-of-service
  • Reports and investigates any incident on track; remove vehicle from track when safe
  • Ensure all end-of-duties are fully and properly executed
  • Keeps shop equipment operating by following operating instructions, troubleshooting breakdowns, maintaining     supplies, performing preventive maintenance, calling for repairs
  • Stays on top of industry trends and job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading technical   publications
  • Seeks to meet organizational mission at an individual level through partnering with supervisory staff and communicating goals
  • Regular and consistent attendance

Qualifications

Experience and Education:

  • Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
  • Must have a clean driving record, background check and drug test required.

    Prefer a minimum of no less than two years of hands-on experience in a fast paced, high performance / supercar automotive shop. 

  • General knowledge of the care and operation of engines, current repair methods, handle preventative maintenance such as engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, and an understanding of diagnostic testing equipment
  • Kart racing or automobile racing experience is highly desirable.
