Tire Simulation and Vehicle Dynamics Engineer

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Candidate will be assigned to support tire modeling and vehicle dynamics simulation development for motorsport programs while working as a member of the PME Motorsports Technology Group.

Typical responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Tire model development, implementation, and correlation
  • Manage tire modeling libraries – implement new models and assist program engineers with correlation
  • Develop desktop simulation workflows to support vehicle development and tuning activities
  • Development of internal tools and methods

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

In addition to the above responsibilities, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required:

  • Attendance at Pratt & Miller meetings
  • Education / training
  • Provide feedback on PME product needs and processes

Required Education and Training:

  • BS in Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering, Mathematics or Computer Science
  • 4 years’ professional experience in motorsports engineering or simulation development

Required Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in the development and application of multi-body simulation models
  • Experience with tire model correlation
  • Solid vehicle dynamics background
  • Good analytical problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Excel, MATLAB, and data analysis software
  • Ability to work independently with little direction
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills for communicating with Pratt & Miller team members and clients

Preferred Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Dymola/Modelica programming experience
  • Python or C++ programming experience
  • Working knowledge of Git repository best practices
  • Experience developing simulation models and methodologies

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Long hours may be required
  • Stress may occur periodically
  • Occasional travel may be required
  • This position can be located out of our Huntersville, NC office OR New Hudson, MI offices.
