TIG Welder/Fabricator

The Welder/Fabricator will be part of a team of welder/fabricators to deliver complete welded assemblies on time and to the required quality standards to satisfy SST customers, predominantly within the motorsport sector. The welder fabricator will be working within the SST “fastmake” department, and as such will be working on first offs, one offs, new projects for motorsport/automotive customers in a dynamic and fast paced environment.

The welder/fabricator will be expected to use TIG welding equipment / techniques, and other associated fabrication equipment (drills, grinding wheels, hand tools etc.) to fabricate intricate tubes, plates, machined components and other assemblies in thin gauge (0.5 to 2mm ST/Ti/inco)

The welder/fabricator will be working both independently and with others in the completion of individual welded sub-assemblies that go into complete products.

Responsibilities:

  • Welding (TIG) of components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies to go into motorsport / automotive products following relevant drawings, procedures or guidelines.
  • Use of fixtures and jigs to successfully produce work to required specification.
  • Provide suggestions (when required) to assist in the development of welding processes, fixtures and jigs to aid production.
  • Completion of defined tasks using the required standard processes and/or the ability to work from engineering drawings and schematics/technical specifications; producing quality work within specification.
  • To meet and exceed production output targets.
  • Identify and report defective / out of specification components and assembly issues.
  • Work in a safe manner protecting the H+S of yourself and colleagues.
  • Keep working area clean and tidy and clear of all obstructions and hazards, adopting “5S” principles.
