Testing Technician

 The Engine Division of Kawasaki Motors Corp, headquartered in Grand Rapids, MI has an opening for an Research and Development Testing Technician. This key role is a full-time position and eligible for a full benefits package which includes a 401K with immediate vesting. This position supports 4 cycle engines installed on zero turn lawn mowers, commonly used in the lawn and garden industry. This position supports products outside of motorcycles, jet skis, etc.

Summary

Provide support and assist engineering staff with assembling and conducting tests to evaluate current and future products under the direction and guidance of engineering management, engineers and departmental processes and procedures. Experience with data acquisition equipment set up and monitoring. Compile data and organize to generate test reports. This role will work with a moderate degree of independence and decision making.

Responsibilities

  • With some oversight assist in the best way a test can be performed in order to achieve 100% test coverage of all components using different test processes.
  • Set up and perform tests to ensure quality and durability of material and component parts.
  • With some oversight, determine lead times for new equipment installation and verification.
  • With limited supervision, able to debug and isolate problems, gather information to feed back to peers within R&D Dept.
  • Provide hands on troubleshooting and upgrade support for existing production testing in a real time environment.
  • Research, collect data and/or make mathematical calculations to recommend or make design changes to engine or component parts.
  • Generate test reports from data collected during testing.
  • Ability to disassemble and assembled engines with precision and attention to detail.
  • With some oversight, ability to fabricate rigging for use in testing.
  • Able to communicate relevant information between and across departments.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3+ years related experience in hands on testing procedures.
  • Moderate experience with machinery, tools and manufacturing equipment.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) mandatory.
  • Associates degree in Engine Mechanics preferred.

Other Qualifications:

  • Must demonstrate a positive attitude; be self-motivated and able to work as part of a team.
  • Willingness to accept responsibility and be relied on to perform is a must.
  • Attendance must be maintained at a satisfactory level.
  • Able to drive fork truck.
  • Able to obtain medical driving card.
