The Role
Tesla Energy is looking for a Lead Test Technician to support and own the development, implementation and application of a wide variety of test and validation plans/methods with our engineering development team. In this role you will have a broad scope of responsibility from creating electrical and mechanical test fixtures, to executing test plans and writing test reports.
Responsibilities
- Setup and monitor/log internal and external tests and validation activity. This includes but is not limited to durability, thermal, structural, materials and regulatory testing on a component and system level basis.
- Build, assemble and setup of test/validation equipment and fixtures
- Install electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic circuitry and controls or data circuits
- Installation and use of data acquisition equipment and other instrumentation
- Record and analyze test data
- Document and report on issues fund during test and work closely with Test Engineering to address these
- Conduct component and system tear downs after test completion to discover issues generated during testing, document and report results
- Support the development of test/validation plans and methods that assure reliability, structural and other engineering targets are met by the component/system tested
- Maintain test/validation equipment
Requirements
- AS or BS degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- 5 years + of experience in an engineering development environment
- 3 years + experience in a Test Technician Role
- Strong understanding of engineering and reliability fundamentals
- Ability to operate and maintain a wide variety of hand and power tools, shop tools, and lab equipment
- Experience with wiring diagrams and harness drawings
- Experience with oscilloscopes, DMMs and HV power supplies
- Ability to instrument test samples with thermal couples, accelerometers, strain gauges, pressure sensors, induction probes etc.
- Experience in the use of a broad variety of test, control and data acquisition equipment and software (i.e. Lab View, MatLab)
- Experience and demonstrated success in machining, fabrication and welding
- Experience with common MS office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills
- Remain engaged, proactive and positive in tough circumstances, owning assignments and taking full accountability for their success
- Positive attitude, eagerness to learn and ability to change direction quickly
- High voltage/power experience
- Experience with HV battery systems
- 3D CAD skills(Solidworks / Catia V5 preferred)
- Experience with operation and repair of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Forklift certification
- First aid/AED/CPR training
