Test Engineer

MTCE is an automotive engineering company. We design and manufacture dampers for race and road cars, build low volume cars and chassis’s, provide ride and handling tuning programs, and manufacture mechatronic systems such as adjustable ride height systems and deployable wing mechanisms.

Location: MTCE, 20 Fison Way, Thetford, Norfolk, IP24 1HJ

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a range of component testing using our in house mechanical and servo hydraulic test machines.
  • Produce written reports
  • Perform DVP&R testing of components
  • Assemble prototype and low volume vehicles
  • Work on vehicles in a safe and unsupervised manner, supporting our vehicle ride and handling projects
  • Assemble, test and validate new R&D suspension dampers and mechatronic systems.
  • Low volume production damper and mechatronic system assembly
  • Test project management, to be able to take on tasks from beginning to end liaising with other departments for the completion of the project
  • Inspect assemblies and produce reports using Faro Arm CMM
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Be a strong communicator both verbally and written
  • Adhere to health and safety rules as applicable.

Basic Requirements:

  • University degree in Mechanical / Electrical / Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
  • To have good manual dexterity.
  • Basic computer and keyboard skills.
  • Basic understanding of engineering drawings and terminology.
  • Be mechanically proficient
  • Approach testing in a logical manner, with the ability to work unsupervised
  • The ability to work to the procedures and standards as set by MTCE.
  • To work in a clean and tidy manner, keeping the work area in a clean and tidy condition.
  • To hold a current Passport and be able to travel as and when required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Willingness to work additional hours on an as needed basis

  • Ability to use manual milling machines and lathes
  • Basic metal working capability
  • Ability to weld
  • CAD competent
  • Competent in the build and fault finding of vehicle wiring systems
  • Familiar with data acquisition systems at full vehicle level
