Technical Buyer

A vacancy has arisen for a Technical Buyer reporting to the Lead Technical Buyer.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for purchasing car components and services in conjunction with our Purchasing Policy.

 

Key Accountabilities/Duties include:

  • Purchasing components from our external supply chain demonstrating sound negotiation skills and financial awareness with a focus on right first time.

  • Manage and maintain supply chain performance to ensure Cost, Quality, Delivery is achieved.  

  • Managing and working within the agreed budgets and adhering to the relevant purchasing, quality and finance procedures.

  • Working with the Planning Team to ensure parts are delivered in line with the requirements of the programme and to the correct quality standard.

  • Stakeholder engagement to effectively manage both external suppliers and internal customers while demonstrating effecting dispute resolution and conflict management.

  • Proactively expediting all open purchase orders and updating SAP and stakeholders as necessary.

  • Working collaboratively with design and the supply chain to reduce lead-times whenever possible.

  • Actively promoting all purchasing & quality policies and procedures throughout the business.

  • Creating a positive profile for themselves and the department.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will have a tenacious can do attitude and demonstrate this in their daily role, but also show exceptional supplier communication with a structured approach.

 

Ideally CIPS qualified and with proven experience of working in a fast paced engineering prototype (small batch) or preferably motorsport environment, along with a belief in continuous improvement.

 

Possessing a strong technical background, with a proven understanding of composite manufacturing processes being highly advantageous.  You must have the ability to understand and discuss detailed engineering drawings.

Flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with appropriate supportive team behaviours, and the ability to work with minimal supervision to tight deadlines in a fast paced, high throughput environment.
