Suspension Design Engineer

Purpose of the Role:

Suspension design and development projects for F1 Race cars.

Principal responsibilities:

  • Conceptual and detail design of suspension components and systems, including driver controls, on an F1 Racing Car.
  • Project ownership from conceptual phase through to track sign off.
  • Fault diagnosis and resolution.
  • Performance monitoring and trackside support.
  • Liaison with Race Engineering and Vehicle Dynamics to understand system performance and development direction.
  • When required, to assist in design work related to chassis, bodywork and transmission components.
  • Design of jig and tooling components for manufacture and testing of components.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Degree in Mechanical/Aeronautical Engineering or similar.
  • Good knowledge of racing car components and systems.
  • Excellent knowledge of composite and metallic materials and manufacturing techniques.
  • High Level of Proficiency in CATIA V5 or 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Computer literate – Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience working within F1 or a similar environment.
  • Proven experience in the design of suspension systems.
