Pratt Miller is looking for an experienced Sub Assembly Technician to join its Motorsports business unit. The Sub Assembly Technician would have a supporting role on the Corvette Racing Team and have responsibilities both at the shop and track.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Mechanics Expectations
- Ensure accountability to team and company objectives
- Align processes and quality of work with overall team expectation
- Look for opportunities for improvement and plan to realize improvements
Vehicle Preparation
- Prepare gearboxes ahead of each event ensuring that all pre-event development tasks have been accounted for
- Prepare and maintain clutches and release mechanisms
- Prepare uprights and driveshafts ahead of each event ensuring that all pre-event development tasks have been accounted for
- Work closely with Operations Manager and Race Engineer to prioritize gearbox, upright and driveshaft reliability and performance development
Spare Inventory and Tracking
- Utilizing Corvette database software to track mileage
- Working with Operations Manager and PME departments to order spares as required
Trackside Execution
- Responsible to ensure that gearbox and associated parts are ready to execute all phases of the eve
- Gearbox service and preparation
- Clutch and release mechanism maintenance
- Upright and driveshaft maintenance
- Pit Set up and Teardown
- Pit stop execution
- Additional team tasks (setup/teardown/etc.)
Shop Execution
- Organization and cleanliness of work area
Detailed Expectations
- Work with the Engineers and Operation Manager to create a common level of preparation on all the driveline components
- Positive and team first attitude
- Look for and identify ways to improve your skillset
- Bring any issues to Engineering and Operations Manager for solutions
- Help with feedback on long-term driveline planning
ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
In addition to the responsibilities mentioned above, tasks relating to the following area will be assigned as required:
- Support Pratt Miller initiatives, marketing events, and general development as necessary
- Provide feedback on product needs and processes
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Desired Education:
- 4 years or greater of Motorsports gearbox and upright experience with a focus on driveline preparation, development, and event execution
- Achieve program goals and continuously improve
Desired Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- Gearbox training
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Stress may occur periodically
- Long hours may be required at times
- Physical labor is a regular part of daily work
- Travel of up to 60% is required
