Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) Build Technician

To build and support prototype and customer vehicles

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • To take ownership in the build, delivery and performance of a premium and unique fleet of track based vehicles.
  • Timely and right first time manufacture/sub-assembly of systems.
  • Fitment of Powertrain, Chassis, Electrical, Body, Coachwork and Safety components and systems to vehicles.
  • Work to, and report against reference drawings and quality images throughout all areas of build.
  • Perform vehicle repair, rework, and performance update duties as required.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile via a customer facing role to support and deliver a world class customer experience.
  • Vehicle support and set up/break down of track based facilities.
  • Assist in Bill of Materials creating/corrections when required.
  • Raise and investigate quality and performance concerns during build.
  • Develop and implement robust containments/reworks.
  • To complete detailed auditable write ups of all work carried out.
  • Develop and/or improve build process and sequencing.
  • Willingness to work in other areas if workload/timeframes/experiences dictate.
  • To ensure the right first time service, repair, refurbishment and restoration of our clients cars.
  • To provide detailed concise and accurate diagnosis of electrical, mechanical and body related faults in a timely manner.
  • To work in a safe and tidy manner adhering to all applicable health and safety and environmental legislation and company policy.
  • To provide assistance and training to other technicians as required and feed back in all levels of the business.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Background and demonstrable experience in dealing with all aspects of classic vehiclesand repair/build techniques.
  • Competence in electrical, mechanical and body fault diagnosis and repairs.
  • Working ability to interpret engineering drawings, and repair and overhaul engines, transmission components and other assemblies from these.
  • A flexible attitude to working hours so as to ensure the achievement of deadlines and completion dates.
  • The ability to assess interior and exterior component fit and finish; an eye for detail is a prerequisite.
  • A full UK driving license is required.
  • Fluency in spoken and written English Language.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work abroad for short periods of time.
  • Experience of Historic motorsport and vehicle builds at the highest level is desirable.
  • Good communication skills, an ability to interact with engineers to carry out basic problem solving and have a good understanding of computer systems.
  • Experience in repair/build of historic race engines and gearboxes.
  • Automotive Electrical skills – build and repair of automotive wiring and instrumentation systems.
  • Metal fabrication, welding and machine shop skills.
  • Experience in premium automotive coachbuilding/restoration.
