The position:
We are looking to recruit a Simulation Development Engineer to join our Vehicle Dynamics department
The role:
You will take ownership of the next generation of vehicle model at Williams, which will be at the heart of our simulation toolset. You will work closely with others to integrate component models such as tyre and aero, and to support the use of the model in the Driver-In-the-Loop simulator. You will have freedom to explore ideas, propose and develop new performance concepts, and implement new techniques and methodologies.
You will contribute to the development of our lap simulation tools to identify and deliver improvements in vehicle performance.
Applicants will have a good degree in Engineering or a related discipline (minimum 2:1)
Previous experience in one or more of the following areas would be advantageous but is not essential:
- A high level modelling tool such as Dymola or Simscape
- Software development using C++, Matlab or Python
- Optimisation tools and methods
- Vehicle dynamics
Reporting to the Team Leader – Simulation Development you will also contribute to the Simulation Development strategy, and assist with the identification, prioritisation and management of model upgrade programmes. As a member of the Vehicle Dynamics Department, you will also support various projects across the entire team as may be required.
Core Skills:
An aptitude for Simulation and Modelling activities would be advantageous
A proven track record in the following would be beneficial:
- Simulation & Modelling
- Simulink, MATLAB, and Stateflow
- High level programming languages, e.g. FORTRAN, C/C++
- Ability to produce a computer simulation from a mathematical specification
