Job Description

The Skilled Labor Trainee role is an entry-level, short-term role that prepares an employee to perform a higher-level Skilled Labor role, such as Sheet Metal Fabricator or Machinist. The Skilled Labor Trainee performs work as directed in order to prepare for future responsibilities, completes hands on training and classroom training as assigned through enrollment in the appropriate Adult Apprenticeship program.

Upon successful completion of the training program, Skilled Labor Trainees are eligible to be considered for promotion to open Skilled Labor positions that correspond with their course of training.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to complete the Adult Apprenticeship
  • Requires at least 2,000 hours (see Apprenticeship Standards for program specific full hour requirements) of on-the-job learning to attain
  • Trainee Letter of Commitment

  • Deductive reasoning ability, analytical skills and computer skills
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
