Server Administrator

The Server Administrator is responsible for the installation/configuration, operation and maintenance of Pala Tribe server hardware, software and related infrastructure.  Duties include daily server monitoring, security checks, troubleshooting network issues, research and upgrades.  The server administrator needs to ensure that hardware, software and security of the network are fully maintained to minimize downtime. This individual will work with other team members, vendors and other departments in expanding or implementing new systems that meet organizational needs.  Collaborate and provide assistance to the team members on other projects. The Server Administrator will be working under the guidance of the Director of IT and will be providing reports on regular basis.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Engineering and maintenance of server environment to meet the needs of Pala Band.

  • Deploy, configure, maintain and administer new and existing servers, databases, storage and backups.

  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures.

  • Perform daily system monitoring, server integrity checks, review system and application logs, and verify scheduled job completion (backups, etc.)

  • Test and deploy OS, security patches and system upgrades as needed.

  • Create, change and remove AD users, mailboxes, Lync accounts and other resources as requested.

  • Monitor backups and maintain backup servers.

  • Provide support to the helpdesk staff as needed and be available after hours for maintenance and emergency procedures.

  • Be able to recover the environment from hardware and software failures.

  • Perform periodic performance and capacity tests and submit results to the IT Director.

  • Maintain server and software inventory and report any issues to the IT Director.

  • Be able to work as a team and communicate with the other IT staff members.
