As an integral member of the CFD team, you will be responsible for developing and implementing thermal CFD models to support our aerodynamic development. This will include working closely with development aerodynamicists to ensure we understand and improve the correlation.
Key operational duties:
• Development, implementation and maintenance of isolated CFD thermal models (e.g. cooling and brakes)
• Development and analysis of full-car thermal models
• Correlation of thermal models to empirical data
• Analysis and reporting of thermal simulations
• Working with process engineers to deliver thermal capability to our CFD workflow
• Aiding in aerodynamic correlation and methodology development
Essential Skills / Credentials
• Master’s degree educated in Aerodynamics, thermodynamics, or related field
• A minimum of 2 years experience in CFD thermal modelling in an industrial setting, preferably Formula 1 or a similar motorsport environment.
• Excellent grasp of thermodynamic concepts and real-world application to CFD simulations
• Practical experience of developing thermal CFD models and associated processes.
• Strong understanding of key CFD processes
• Proficient with Linux shell scripting, Python, and ideally C#
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work effectively and communicate clearly under pressure
Desirable Skills / Credentials
• Experience of Java, C++, C#, and SQL would be advantageous
• Experience with OpenFOAM and Star-CCM+
