Senior Technician

Pro Car Associates is a complete engine system and solution provider located in Akron Ohio. Pro Car is in need of a multi-talented individual in automotive engine, powertrain, electronics, assembly and build. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing all mechanical, electrical, diagnostic, and build work to automotive vehicles and race cars.

Primary responsibilities include the ability to diagnose vehicle mechanical and electrical systems, provide solutions to customer needs, and perform all mechanical and electrical work. This individual must be able to modify existing powertrain architectures and electronics for both on and off-road use. Have a thorough understanding of vehicle architectures, and aftermarket solutions for added power, performance, emissions and efficiency. Must possess the ability to think outside the box to provide a solution and finished product. Work well in a team environment and have a strong mechanical and electrical aptitude. The candidate must be knowledgeable in automotive performance technologies and have strong verbal and written communication skills. He or she will be working closely with engineering, sales, marketing and customers and must have effective organizational and interpersonal skills. This position may require some travel.

Specific Responsibilities

The key objectives and challenges of this position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Diagnosing mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
  • Performing all mechanical and electrical work to vehicles
  • Designing and installing the best solution to meet the customer needs
  • Modifying vehicle powertrain and electrical systems.
  • Recommend aftermarket performance improvements and systems.
  • Assemble and build custom vehicles for on and off-road use.
  • Possess the ability to learn and adapt to business and customer needs.

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will have at least 5-10 years’ experience combined in automotive service, performance build and assembly work.
  • Have thorough knowledge of vehicle mechanical and electrical systems and their application.
  • This individual will possess a powerful blend mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Minimum of a high school education with additional college degree or equivalent certified training specific to this job requirement.
  • Knowledge of the following are a plus; Engine and powertrain management systems and calibration, Electrical design, CNC machining, general machine and fabrication, welding certifications, engine build, transmission build. Motec, Holley EFI, Haltech, AEM, Racepak, AIM, Torque management, Race track support, drag racing, and road racing experience.
