Senior Technical Artist

Description

We are currently looking for a Senior Technical Artist who can help the team move forward in multiple areas with technical developments within the area of creating motorsport environments. The successful candidate will support art pipelines, workflows, and processes to produce efficient art production and outstanding visual quality.

Studio 397 is a subsidiary of Motorsport Games and a PC Games Developer of the title "rFactor 2" that focuses on making the most accurate Motorsport Simulation that we can. Our team works remotely, predominantly based in the EU.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the team on technical solutions to deliver the art vision and drive the visual fidelity of the game
  • Build-upon, create and maintain art pipelines, identifying and developing new tools and processes
  • Help define and meet in-game asset budgets and optimise levels, meshes, materials, lighting, post-processes and vfx.
  • Communicate effectively between art and code, providing guidelines, best practices and documentation for workflows etc.
  • Keep up to date with new technologies and techniques, current game development practices and utilise this effectively in game production

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional game development experience
  • Experience of Game production level shader work and optimisation, including the creation of physical based shaders.
  • A good understanding of real-time rendering, vfx and lighting workflows and pipelines.
  • Strong scripting and coding abilities.
  • A high level of attention to aesthetic detail.
  • High levels of competence with 3d modelling, texturing and animation packages.
  • Experience of procedural material generation in Substance Designer or similar.
  • Experience of procedural model generation.
  • A passion for motorsport.
  • Native English Speaker or strong English Skills both written and spoken.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally across disciplines within the team.
  • Clearly explains and summarises key elements of assigned work.
  • Can effectively provide a line manager with verbal or written updates.
  • Open to constructive criticism and an active listener.
  • Proven ability to clearly define requirements and work with all of our teams to make it happen.
  • Confidently able to plan and estimate time against their work and reflect industry standard estimations for asset creation.
  • Requires light supervision on familiar tasks but will seek guidance on more complex or new/unfamiliar tasks.
