Senior Systems Analyst

Job Summary

The Senior Systems Analyst role has the primary responsibility to analyze, validate, and manage all reported defects within the PeopleSoft Financial system applications.  The Senior Systems Analyst is also tasked with managing the product roadmaps, recommending solutions, and establishing technology strategy in support of the Business Application team’s business objectives and priorities.  

The Systems Analyst also must work closely with the Business Applications team to gather and document business, user, and system requirements. Focus on documenting as-is and to-be business processes, gathering requirements for major enhancements and documenting business and technology sessions in support of key ISC business functions. The PeopleSoft Financials system consists of GL, Payables, Receivables, Billing, Asset Management, Project Costing, Treasury, and reporting. Experience with application version 9.2 PeopleTools 8.56 is preferred. 

Principal Responsibilities

Under limited supervision, the Senior Systems Analyst provides application development for PeopleSoft Financials systems.  The position requires extensive knowledge of the applications and the business processes.

  1. Acts as the primary contact for the business community on assigned production support issues. 
  2. Understands the basics of customer satisfaction and applies it in the process of servicing the customer.  Communicates customer feedback to senior team members for action.  Understands and follows internal processes to respond to customer needs.
  3. Must understand the business needs and proactively identify potential business process or system improvements. Identify appropriate solutions and establish solution roadmaps.
  4. Respond to all issues and follow-up with customers on issue resolution in a timely manner.
  5. Review all issues reported for the in-scope business applications and work with the business to assign a priority.
  6. Primary liaison with application vendors to help plan the product roadmap as well as problem resolution. 
  7. Assist in developing annual support maintenance budgets for applications supported. 
  8. Stay current with trends and products relating to security and compliance applications. 
  9. Document production support issues in ISC’s standard incident management tool (CSM) and proactively provide updates in the tool and to the business users on assigned issues.
  10. Research problems, separating the symptoms from the root cause; identify opportunities to correct the issue permanently both technically and from a business process perspective.
  11. Possess the ability to test application changes in order to resolve production issues.
  12. Track vendor patch releases, keeping awareness of issues resolved and caused by those vendor released updates; responsible for testing changes and maintaining change management. 
  13. Document steps to reproduce production issues for all assignments.
  14. Provide on-call support for in-scope business applications.
  15. Partnering with the business, must have the ability to create training materials and conduct training for key business users.
  16. Ability to document functional requirements, business processes, test plans, etc.
  17. Able to analyze complex business problems and identify repeating patterns so that issues can be resolved completely preventing recurrence.
  18. Investigate, plan, test, and debug application changes for assigned production support issues.
  19. Prepare documentation of application for end users and technical team.
  20. Provide instruction and training to users and other employees on day-to-day procedures. 
  21. Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. 
  22. Translate the business and user requirements into detailed functional requirements documentation.  Documentation includes Use Cases, Activity Diagrams, GUI and Report Designs, business process flows, etc.
  23. Gather requirements for enhancements and partner with the business to create as-is and to-be process maps.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  1. Possess 5-10 years of overall technology and application support experience, preferably in application administration and development for PeopleSoft Financials.
  2. Ability to understand, design, build, and test application code as required by PeopleTools and PeopleSoft Financials functionality and integrations. PeopleCode, Application Engine, SQR, SQL, Linux, server administration, PSAdmin, nVision, and Application Designer.
  3. Ability to test and troubleshoot application software.
  4. Ability to negotiate issue priority with the business users based upon defined service levels. 
  5. Ability to develop and write applications documentation and guides for users. 
  6. Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures. 
  7. Ability to deal with a number of tasks simultaneously as well as the ability to concentrate with attention to detail and without losing sight of the “big picture.”
  8. Strong interpersonal skills such as patience, tact, and diplomacy.  
  9. Strong verbal and written communication skills to communicate effectively with a diverse population including both functional and technical staff.    

Education

Requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or relevant field of study, or equivalent experience
