SENIOR SURFACE ENGINEER - AERODYNAMICS

To support the growth of the team following new ownership, we have exciting opportunities at Racing Point for experienced surfacers within our Aerodynamics department.

Working in close partnership with the Aerodynamicists, you will be responsible for the creation of high quality, robust and fully legal wetted surfaces, this will consist of new concepts and modifying existing models according to the department’s methodologies and best practises.

You will work on a variety of projects and have the ability to think out of the box, bringing fresh ideas and helping to evolve surface model creation.

An open and flexible approach for this role is required, along with a natural ability to view, understand and manipulate shapes and ideas.

The role is ideally suited to highly motivated and focused candidates that can thrive in a team working environment. You must be able to demonstrate strong communication skills as this role requires a two way process and constructive communication during the design exploration phase is key; through a sequence of discussions, sketches and CAD schemes, you can bring the ideas to life.

Responsibility for maintaining and documenting working guidelines and methodologies for surface models.

Skills & Requirements:

  • You will be qualified to HND / Degree level or served an Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline.
  • Possess prior relevant workplace experience in Product, Industrial, Automotive or Mechanical design.
  • Be a strong communicator and be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding which will assist with the delivery of conceptual parametric CAD surface designs.
  • Be able to demonstrate an ability to be highly creative with a dynamic and original approach to problem solving, and have a strong drive for attention to detail.
  • The right candidate will support the department in delivering 3D creative shapes, as well as creating new and unique concepts, and expressing creativity via hand sketching through to full 3D CAD models, a proactive and open minded skillset is required along with a highly tuned sense of visualisation
  • Candidates should be able to demonstrate extensive CAD skills and have prior experience in a Surfacing based role, ideally using Catia, although other planforms can be considered.
