Senior NPI Quality Engineer

An opportunity has arisen at a very exciting time for a Senior NPI (New Product Introduction) Quality Engineer on a three month contract.

Main Purpose of Position

As an NPI Quality Engineer you will be responsible for the complete introduction, through the APQP process and prototyping to full mass production of a new project involving CNC machining, assembly and development.  Guiding the project through all elements of the PPAP process as well as coaching common APQP Project Management tools inherent to all automotive programme introduction.  You will be introducing commonly accepted tools in a willing environment and assisting senior management as well as coaching junior engineering talent.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the customer on all external Quality requirements, incluidng review and submission of all required PPAP elements.
  • Setting internal approval requirements and documentation/recording system with Cosworth Management.
  • Coaching relevant departments through both internal and external approval activities.
  • Working with Supplier Quality Assurance to maintain coherent approval requirements inside and outside the business.
  • Working with Project Management to ensure all Quality elements are taken into account in every element of the project.
  • Assisting Project Management in the process fo managing a new product introduction though the steps of APQP.
  • Coaching new staff through the elements of PPAP.

Skills, Qualifications & Attributes

  • Significant experience in managing new product introductions through the APQP process.
  • Experience in PPAP elements, requirements and common industry practices.
  • Experience in aluminium CNC machining and engine assembly would be beneficial.
  • Experience in Project Management of automotive NPI
  • Ability to foster a culture of change within a business eager to learn and keep up date.
  • Excellent attention to detail in relation to oral and written communication.
  • Good facilitator and negotiator, able to bring together cross function teams to find solutions to problems quickly.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach by working openly with others to achieve overall customer satisfaction.
