Senior Media and Distribution Manager

Your role

As a core member of the Formula E (FE) Media & Distribution Team reporting to the Head of Media & Distribution, your principal responsibility will be as the key account lead for several of FE’s most valued broadcast partners. You will create season-long account plans and tune-in campaigns based around our annual “tent poles”, with the objective of maximising broadcaster performance across the main verticals of audience growth, engagement and future rights renewals. This will entail daily interaction with your key accounts, coordination of workshops and management on-site at races. 

The ideal candidate will have proven and demonstrable expertise within the broadcast and digital sphere, ideally having worked closely with major FE licensees as well as social/digital media platforms (e.g. Facebook, Twitter , Instagram, YouTube). As part of your role, you will manage FE’s rights partnerships with these platforms as part of an integrated linear and digital media rights strategy.  
 
This role will be integral to maximising revenue generation and exposure for FE content. You will lead the negotiation and finalisation of media rights agreements in selected territories. You will have responsibility for commercialising news access, footage licensing and distribution of media content to FE’s partner and manufacturer ecosystem. You will oversee the sales of FE’s contractual media inventory (i.e. top and tail sponsorship, near-live clip rights, Out of Home branding) to both existing partners and external clients. You will also manage FE’s in-flight and ancillary programming distribution (e.g. support series, shoulder programming, short-form/”hero” content). As such you will have an existing distribution network and the ability to identify opportunities, generating and converting new sales leads.  
 
You will be the project lead for FE’s network of existing and prospective digital media content partnerships (e.g. Lad Bible, Vice, Whistle Sports), from contracting to agreeing scope of work to managing delivery against agreed internal budgets and KPIs. 
 
You will be a crucial interface with FE’s wider London-based team, most specifically Marketing & Brand; Content, Editorial & Digital; Commercial/Partnerships and Insights.  
 
What you will be doing

  • Account lead for several of FE’s key broadcast partnerships in high priority territories
  • Account and strategic lead on digital platform rights partnerships (Facebook, Instagram, twitter, YouTube, twitch)
  • Ownership of the end-to-end sales process in selected territories, from lead generation and contract finalisation to broadcaster onboarding and fee collection  
  • Sales and distribution lead - news, clips, archive, in-flight, magazine series and additional shoulder programming
  • Responsible for sales of contractual broadcast, digital and Out of Home inventory  
  • Lead on digital content syndication strategy, including commissioning and managing content partnerships
  • Principle interface with FE Marketing & Brand; Content, Editorial & Digital; Commercial/Partnerships & Insight teams. 

What we are looking for

  • Expert broadcast industry experience ideally at rights holder, broadcaster or agency
  • Strong track record in account management within broadcast media  
  • Proven digital/social media experience and expertise  
  • Media sales experience is beneficial  
  • Knowledge of motorsport as well as experience supporting at major sporting events is advantageous
  • Solid production, technical and operational sports broadcasting experience
  • An understanding of media insights, audience profiles, data and analytics is beneficial
  • Fluency in English is essential and another European language (ideally Italian, German or French) is a major advantage
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills is vital
  • You will have the ability to work to tight deadlines and handle multiple simultaneous projects in a well-organised manner
  • You will be a problem-solver, both a team player and capable of working proactively using your own initiative
  • Willingness to travel is essential, often for sustained periods and at short notice. Approx. 30% overseas travel.
