The position:

We are currently seeking an ambitious, experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our F1 Composites Design group, working on a wide variety of projects. Collaborating with the Head of Composites Design/Composites Principal Engineers, you will be responsible for undertaking and guiding a range of designs from initial concepts through to Production working in close collaboration with other departments.

Key operational Duties:

Layout of design schemes which respect structural requirements, packaging, aerodynamics & composite manufacturing techniques.
Calculation work and production of system documentation.
Conduct design reviews independently or with a Principal Engineer/Head of Department.
Demonstrate significant experience to be drawn on by others, be a point of contact for support and mentorship.
End-to-end ownership for projects incorporating manufacture, build, testing and racing, including fault analysis and resolution.
Support checking responsibility for detailed drawings, including design review against specification and previous designs.
Promoting best design practice and driving continuous improvement.
Working with the Principal/Seniors Engineers to develop and improve design methodology and manufacturing efficiency.

Core Skills:

The candidate will have an in depth understanding of composites materials engineering and science together with detailed knowledge of relevant composites manufacturing technologies. It is expected that the candidate would have a relevant degree or equivalent qualification supported by design experience in motorsport, aerospace or a related field. An understanding of composites stress analysis will be required for preliminary sizing. Strong CAD skills are necessary, ideally with experience of NX, however training will be provided for conversion from other CAD systems.

Applicants should bring a creative, proactive approach to problem-solving, along with good attention to detail. A friendly, collaborative outlook, with good communication and organization skills will help the successful candidate integrate well into our design team.
