To help deliver against this global vision we are seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our IT Networks & Operations team at Formula 1.
Reporting to the Lead Cloud Architect, this role will design, develop, and deploy Cloud systems whilst improving and maintaining Formula 1’s current cloud infrastructure.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain Formula 1’s new and existing cloud systems and infrastructure
- To project manage appropriate changes and additions to Formula 1’s cloud systems
- To work with project teams from project concept through to fruition, providing guidance and input where required.
- To ensure that the cloud processes are as efficient and resilient as possible.
- To work with the cloud architects in contributing to system designs and deployments mechanisms.
- To be responsible for operational systems and intervene where and when required
- To support Formula 1’s cloud systems during the Grand Prix events on a rotation basis
- To document both cloud infrastructure and systems.
- To liaise with other internal and external project teams to meet Formula 1’s objectives
- To ensure the cloud systems are compliant with current data protections and security regulations (e.g. GDPR, ISO27001) and current financial compliance if applicable (e.g. SOX)
- To share knowledge and experience with team members in a manner that enhances the overall performance of the team
- To provide recommendations to improve the efficiency of the cloud estate ▪ Assist in development and maintenance of software delivery systems such as: TeamCity, Nexus, Bit Bucket
- To represent the Cloud team as a senior stakeholder in projects providing infrastructure guidance to ensure systems meeting Formula 1’s compliance and efficiency expectations.
- To provide and maintain a secure cloud operating environment.
- To always be looking for ways to improve the cloud processes and systems, and then plan the implementation of these improvements.
- To produce system reports and statistics as required.
- To assist Cloud engineers and provide guidance where necessary.
- To produce root cause analysis reports in case of failures and issues.
- To attend meetings when requested.
- To be available to work on cloud systems outside of usual ‘Business Hours’, both planned and any potential unplanned work.
- To be available to work remotely on systems in the Cloud during ‘event hours’.
- To keep abreast of developments in the Cloud Industry, and consider proactively how these may be incorporated into the Cloud Systems Infrastructure.
- To operate safely at all times in line with Company health and safety requirements.
- To complete all mandatory training within specified timelines.
- To undertake other duties within your capabilities that your Manager or Head of Department may assign to you from time to time.
- To work closely with F1’s Information Security team to ensure the platform meets cyber security requirements.

About You
As a AWS Solutions Architect Professional you will be qualified to degree level and have solid AWS experience working with security groups.
Other essential experience/skills include:
- Azure (Azure AD, OIDC, SAML Authentication)
- Extensive Infrastructure experience (TCP/IP Networks, DNS, Active Directory)
- Designing and deploying cloud networks
- Kubernetes
- Implementing cloud security principles and practices (SCP’s, KMS, and IAM)
- Good Linux experience
- Good Python experience
- CI/CD Pipelines & good DevOps practices
- Strong Infrastructure as Code (IaC) through Terraform and Cloudformation
This is a travelling role and therefore you must also be willing and able to travel within the UK and Internationally.
