We are looking for a Senior Buyer to join our expanding Motorsport Purchasing team. As part of the GT Motorsport team we want you to provide an invaluable contribution by making that difference: that extra thousandth of second off a lap.
Purpose of the role:
As Senior Buyer, you will be responsible for the effective sourcing and procurement of a wide range of components for McLaren GT Motorsport projects. You will also be responsible for building and developing key supplier relationships and managing the supplier nomination process.
Principal accountabilities:
- Take a leading role within the program team to assist with achievement of vehicle timing milestones Procurement responsibility for both development and “series” expenditure
- Life-cycle responsibility and autonomy for sourcing high quality, value for money products/components and services
- Deliver against aggressive targets for the Purchasing function to achieve the overall business objectives
- Setting of clear objectives and monitor performance of your suppliers and other functions within the organisation.
- Providing initial point of escalation to assist with resolving commercial, timing & supply issues and contract discussions
- Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders within the programme team and provide full supply chain support for any identified project activities / requirements
- Work cross-functionally with other departments (Quality, Engineering, Logistics, Production) to help drive quality principles and commercial acumen
- Establish relationships and long-term development plans with suppliers based upon common goals and objectives.
Knowledge, skills & experience:
- Strong procurement knowledge is vital, to ensure delivery of commercial agreements against programme targets, as well as identification of suppliers on a global basis to meet technology requirements
- Procurement experience within Motorsport or low volume Automotive industry is highly preferred
- Understanding of supplier management techniques and how to maximise relationships
- SAP environment knowledge or other MRP will be advantage
- Ability to lead on negotiations and support teams in the development of strategies for large and complex projects and for short term orders
- Excellent organisational skills, deadline adherence and exceptional attention to accuracy and detail
- Results driven and the ability to deliver against aggressive targets to achieve the overall business objectives
