As a newly public EV company based in Los Angeles, California, Fisker, Inc. looking for a highly motivated Senior Accountant, Tax with a "can do" attitude, critical thinking skills, analytical mind, solution orientation, and excellent interpersonal skills to support our business as we position ourselves for growth.   We are building a best-in-class finance function and this position will be the second within our tax function and need a person who can dig into the details related to income and indirect taxes.

Job Summary:

The Senior Accountant, Tax position will have multiple roles due to Fisker’s start-up environment and rapid growth in operations.  Given our global operations, the role will require a good working knowledge of ASC 740, IRS tax laws including international taxes and tax research, and familiarity of indirect taxes. 

Primary roles for this position will be to assist and, whenever necessary, take ownership of the worldwide income tax provision, U.S. tax compliance, and indirect tax processes.  Indirect taxes include VAT and payroll taxes.  The role will also require working with internal controls and processes over income taxes, including estimates and non-routine aspects of tax-related significant accounts.  

This role will report directly to the Tax Manager and CAO.   

Job Description:

  • Assist with internal work on indirect taxes such as Value-added taxes in Europe and Asia; payroll taxes and sales and use taxes for state tax jurisdictions.
  • General understanding of tax compliance and statutory tax reporting in Germany, Austria, UK and Asian countries.
  • Monitor accuracy and completion of international tax returns that are required for local tax jurisdictions.
  • Assist with the preparation of ASC 740 tax provision compliance and reporting; including identification and reporting of unrecognized tax benefits associated with uncertain tax positions.
  • Monitor deferred tax assets and liabilities schedule including valuation allowance analysis.
  • Assist with the preparation of all aspects of all U.S. federal and state taxation including international tax calculations, R&D tax credit calculations and carryforwards, and foreign forms.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual estimated tax payments and extension.
  • General understanding of IRS rules and limitations and tax and financial reporting (ASC 718) effects associated with stock options, restricted stock awards and nonemployee stock awards.
  • General understanding of internal controls over reporting of income taxes including estimation of the realization of deferred tax assets, uncertain tax positions, calculation of inside and outside basis differences, permanent reinvestments and federal, state, local and foreign financial reporting considerations.
  • Respond and coordinate of any federal and state examination defense efforts.
  • Review and coordinate responses to notices and audits.
  • Work with Finance and other departments to obtain necessary information to complete duties and ad hoc projects.
  • Ensure timely and accurate filings of all tax filing requirements.
  • Complete ad hoc projects.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or related field with a minimum of 3 years of experience in preparing and reviewing income tax provisions, corporate tax returns, and researching tax issues.
  • Experience working for entities with global tax compliance and reporting, especially manufacturing, technology and/or automotive.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to work independently and in a small team environment with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Organized with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to effectively communicate with all levels of staff and management.
  • Active licensed certified public accountant.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
