Senior 3rd Line Engineer

We are seeking an experienced, dynamic, 3rd Line Engineer to join our global IT team. You will be based at our Nottingham head office and support our regional offices based in Europe, Asia & USA.

You should be a confident communicator and possess excellent attention to detail, analytical and problem-solving skills, a good team worker with the ability to document, share and educate on best practice and tools within your specialist areas. Provide demonstrable knowledge of the majority of the technologies listed below.

The main focus of the role is on Operational Systems Administration and escalated 3rd Line Support, however there will also be an expectation of undertaking technical lead duties and therefore experience in leading a team would be highly beneficial.

Essential:

  • Active Directory Administration – all roles and principals
  • Windows Server (2008 -> 2016)
  • Microsoft DFS Replication
  • Enterprise Systems installation and administration
  • Server technologies
  • Storage technology (e.g. SANs, NAS, DAS, NetApp, Compellent, QNAP etc)
  • ITIL
  • VMware vSphere (ESX etc)
  • Office 365/Exchange 2010+
  • Unified communications (e.g. Skype for Business, Cisco UCM)
  • IT/datacentre facilities management (e.g. power, cooling, security)
  • Enterprise backup solutions, preferably CommVault
  • PowerShell
  • Patch management/deployment systems

Overall requirements & experience

  • Proven working experience as a Senior 3rd Line Engineer or equivalent, ideally in the Software and/or technology sector
  • Understanding of IT best practice and able to add operational value back to the business
  • Creative and forward thinker that embraces new technologies.  Able to develop agile solutions to deliver cost effective IT, appropriate to meet business needs
  • Excellent customer service skills, able to form relationships and interact effectively with all levels within the business
  • Experience with cloud technologies and managing IT across remote locations/international operations would be a distinct advantage
  • Excellent knowledge and hands-on experience of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems and networks

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the global day to day operational infrastructure for Romax
  • Ensure robustness of systems and security of data, network access, backup systems
  • Management of effective security systems to counter cyber and information security risk.  Maintain ISO 27001 standards and audit to ensure continued compliance
  • Inputting to the functional plan for IT and advising the IT Manager 
  • Manage the transition to using Cloud infrastructure and technologies
  • Collaborate effectively with all stakeholders
  • Implement effective disaster recovery systems and plans for Romax globally
  • Developing standard operating procedures and best practice encompassing documentation and guidance notes
  • Coordinate with existing suppliers to ensure systems and solutions operate effectively
  • Identify problematic areas and execute projects from planning to implementation
