Race Director

APPLICANT MUST HAVE PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IN WORKING IN THE KARTING INDUSTRY AND RUNNING KARTING TRACKS.

Teamworks Karting is one of the UK’s fastest growing indoor karting companies, and a pioneer of electric karts since 2001. Race Directors are responsible for running each race event, including

  • Greeting & signing in customers
  • Delivering the race briefing
  • Overseeing the race event from the Control Tower
  • Operating the race control timing & display systems
  • Delivering the drivers’ presentation ceremony
  • Overseeing the track reset for the next event

As keyholders, responsibility for opening and locking up Race Directors receive formal training from the National Karting Association and must also qualify as First Aiders, before receiving on-the-job computer training to operate race timing systems, and in-house training on managing race crew and customers. Race Directors have in the past been recruited mainly from people with motorsport background or experience, and internally promoted within the company, but the role is suited to any computer-literate person with strong customer-facing skills, and proven team management ability. Motor racing experience (either as a competitor or as a spectator) is an advantage.

A team consisting of a Race Directors and two or more Race Marshals are required for most events, therefore a pool of at least 1 full-time and 2 part-time Race Directors are required to provide cover for events 10am-10.30pm, 7 days a week. You are a dynamic, engaging person, with a desire to work in the karting industry. No previous karting experience is necessary: simply a desire to work in the karting industry and the ability to learn new skills.
