Quality Inspector - Precision Engineering

Abbey Precision Ltd is a precision engineering company based in Bradwell Abbey, Milton Keynes, that specialises in high precision component manufacture primarily for the motorsport, automotive and military sectors. Abbey Precision is the Mercedes F1 Supplier of the Year 2017 (metallics), employing 43 people across two shifts. We are a busy, forward thinking company investing heavily in automated plant and technology to maintain our position as a key supplier.

We are looking to recruit an additional experienced inspector to work in our busy inspection department. We have invested heavily in this department which is served by 6 CMM machines including two with Nikon based scanning heads, and a wide range of other inspection equipment. We currently have three full time inspectors (one who works on our late shift), an administrator in the inspection department and a technical manager who assists when required.

Abbey is a growing business turning over in excess of £3M, with forecast turnover of £3.5M for 2019/20.

Role and Duties:

  • To assist with "first off" inspections, using hand held tools such as verniers, micrometers, height gauges and a shadowgraph.
  • To help produce FAIRS and PPAP documentation.
  • To assist with CMM programs, both creating new ones and running existing routines. Training can be provided if required for a suitable candidate. We use Mitotoyo MCOSMOS and LK technology PCDMIS based Camio software.
  • To assist with the administration of the department.

Requirements:

  • High levels of computer literacy.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience of carrying our inspections in an engineering environment.
  • Good eye for detail, and an accurate and careful worker.
  • Experience of using CMM machines (preferred)
  • Time served (preferred)

Job Type: Full-time (40 hours a week), 8am to 4:30pm (1/2 hour off for lunch), Monday to Friday. There may be some flexibility in these timings. We may also be prepared to consider an inspector who wished to work our late shift (3:30-11:30pm).

Salary: Approx £30,000-£35,000 P.A. depending on experience. Abbey has a generous pension scheme and pays profit related bonuses.
