Quality Engineer

In this role you will be a member of the operational excellence team responsible for participating in, and leading as required, cross-functional teams to address key business problems. You will apply appropriate lean manufacturing, six sigma and quality management methodologies to meet defined business objectives (Flow, Cost, Quality and Performance). Additionally, you will develop and improve the supply chain and value streams by studying product, manufacturing methods and operational flow.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Engineering (Industrial, or other relevant discipline) required

Knowledge, skills and experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years manufacturing experience preferred, with demonstrated results supporting implementation and ongoing maintenance of quality management systems
  • Automotive Tier I or Tier II supplier quality experience, preferred
  • Experience in supporting ISO and other core tools (DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, etc.)
  • Strong, but diverse, problem-solving skillset
  • Experience identifying, developing and managing opportunities for data analysis and visualization
  • Demonstrated track record in building and delivering plans, effectively driving and achieving results for process improvements, cost control and reduction, improvement of manufacturing efficiency, elimination of waste and process design
  • Hands-on mind set
  • Soft skills (crucial conversations, garnering support from people at all levels, genuine curiosity)
  • Software development experience, a plus (c#, JavaScript, html)
  • Database querying, a plus (SQL)
  • Comfortable with a dynamic, fast-paced, highly variable business
  • Strong Business acumen along with strong analytical and technical skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and robust interpersonal skills

Responsibilities:

  • Bring automotive industry experience into our business to support the implementation of various quality management systems and standards
  • Evaluate existing processes and workflows by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends to quantify and define improvement opportunities/impact
  • Analyze the manufacturing methods, production processes and customer requirements to ensure optimal performance of assigned Value Stream
  • Improve operational efficiency by analyzing and planning workflow, space requirements and resource layout
  • Devise new solutions to existing manufacturing problems
  • Lead/Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-functional meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion
  • Develop/Maintain processes and procedures to help the company achieve repeatable and reproducible processes in compliance with quality standards
  • Plan, execute, report and manage assigned projects to meet defined goals and timing
  • Research, benchmark, share, introduce and implement best practices throughout the organization
  • Other duties, as assigned
