Project Cost Engineer SPV

Your Responsibilities

Summary:

The Project Cost Engineer directs engineering support and leadership to the Program teams in all efforts associated with procuring material for SPV contracts and generating material cost estimates for proposals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads procurement efforts within SPV and assists team members through the identification of alternate parts, manufacturers & vendors via internet searches & networking, ensuring adequate safety stocks/spares are ordered and maintained and consults with vendors to determine product specifications
  • Reads and interprets engineering drawings, parts lists, and production bills of materials to make more informed procurement decisions and establish ordering requirements
  • Proactively works with Process Engineering to understand, plan for and prepare for future efforts in order to minimize project time
  • Performs supplier capacity assessments related to quality systems, processes, manufacturing capacities and cost savings. Recommends suppliers with respect to cost, quality and delivery competitiveness for assigned responsibilities
  • Generates request for quotes and purchase requisitions as well as creates and prepares reports based on material data
  • Monitors suppliers to ensure contractual compliance and fosters supplier communication.
  • Expedites supplier solutions for short lead-time projects
  • Secures and analyzes quotes
  • Negotiates prices and terms with suppliers
  • Maintains and follows up with Bilstein qualified suppliers in regards to open purchase orders and prospective orders. Develops and maintains relationships with key suppliers
  • Supports the vendor qualification and evaluation process
  • Provides technical input and labor projections for production proposal efforts and material cost input for all proposal efforts
  • Creates Bill of Materials for proposal efforts using technical data packages
  • Supports Program Management & Process Engineering system & engineering design reviews (BOMs, drawings & documents)
  • Executes material procurement to achieve targets in cost, quality, and delivery; includes supplier selection, bid solicitation and analysis, execution of orders, supplier support, and program status support
  • Keeps abreast of market trends in critical supply areas such as metals, machined parts, stampings, fabrications and other raw material inputs. Studies market prices and trends, engineering developments and manufacturing method improvements applicable to assigned responsibilities
  • Collaborates daily with other functions, including engineering, manufacturing operations, program management, quality, finance and accounting
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Your Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or Engineering, or equivalent in education and experience
  • Advanced understanding and experience with RFQ, RFI and engineering estimates within different commodities
  • Knowledge of and direct experience in successfully negotiating contracts and quotations with contract manufacturers and suppliers
  • Proven ability to read and interprets engineering drawings, parts lists, and production bill of materials
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work and communicate effectively at all levels within and outside the organization.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Mathematical and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Must exhibit high level of motivation, organization, attention to detail, energetic approach to job duties and requirements
  • Must be technically knowledgeable and capable of grasping detailed concept.
  • Advanced knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Willingness to travel
