Production Tech - Small Parts Department

Cognito is seeking a Production Tech - Small parts department responsible for handling various assembly and packing of finished aftermarket Automotive components. We are seeking hardworking and motivated individuals to help us with our growing business demands. Works well as a team member and seeks input to refine processes.

Essential Functions

  • Hands-on processes of finished product assembly, packaging, and warehousing, including use of certain machine shop equipment and packaging equipment
  • Inform proper management of any discrepancies that arise and aid in correcting the problem.
  • Accurately use and abide by the Job Traveler and its processes.
  • Complete all sections of Job Travelers properly, including proper inventory product labeling, placement into correct bin locations or processing bin transfers as needed.
  • Conduct safety inspection of applicable equipment as instructed.
  • Identify and present to management, possible improvements in processes, equipment, layout, etc.
  • Maintain an organized and clean department work areas.
  • Notify department lead of any supply inventory issues.

  • Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures listed in the Handbook.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Must be willing to switch cross-train in other departments as dictated by business needs.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and two years’ experience in component assembly, production, packaging, and warehousing procedures
  • Good working knowledge of packaging, assembly, painting, and production equipment and processes
  • Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping, receiving, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization, and stock inventory procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Proper forklift operation, safety, and certification

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 5:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
