Production Tech - Assembler/Packager

We currently have immediate openings for assembly/packaging techs in our production department. This position is responsible for performing light assembly and packaging operations involving automotive components. We are looking for dependable, conscientious, hard workers who strive for improvement to join our growing team.

Essential Functions

  • Perform finished product assembly, packaging, and warehousing, including use of certain machine shop equipment and packaging equipment.
  • Accurately use and abide by the Job Traveler and its processes.
  • Understand and accurately execute "Job Traveler" operations as instructed, including proper inventory product labeling, placement into correct bin locations or processing bin transfers as needed.
  • Conduct periodic safety inspection of assigned assembly equipment as instructed.
  • Identify and present to management, possible improvements in processes, equipment, layout, etc.
  • Inform supervisors of any production issues and aid in catching and correcting causes.
  • Take pride in your department and help maintain a clean, organized work area.
  • Notify department leads of any material supply or inventory issues.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Study and comply with all company policies and procedures listed in the Employee Handbook.
  • Must be willing to cross-train and take on assignments in other departments as dictated by business needs.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and two years’ experience in component assembly, production, packaging, and warehousing procedures
  • Good working knowledge of packaging, assembly, painting, and production equipment and processes
  • Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping, receiving, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization, and stock inventory procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Proper forklift operation, safety, and certification

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 5:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m, with occasional over-time.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment.

Physical Demands

The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
