Cognito is seeking a Production Powder Coater responsible powder coating to join our Automotive component. Visually and dimensionally inspects completed work for conformance to verbal/written instruction and specifications. Works well as a team member and seeks clarification to refine powder coating techniques. Applicants must be able to follow specified procedures per Cognito standards.
Essential Functions

- Manage, plan, oversee, and participate in the powder coating process including surface prep, painting, oven curing, accuracy and quality control of the finish.
- Ability to complete the process from start to finish
- Accurately use and abide by the Job Traveler and its processes.
- Complete all sections of Job Travelers properly, including proper inventory product labeling.
- Manage, organize, and prioritize applicable product job travelers and powder coating schedule, report issues, troubleshoot when appropriate.
- Train and provide work direction to powder coating department employees, including the proper procedures for using job travelers
- Track supply inventory and place PO requests for needed materials for the powder coating process
- Maintain equipment used in the powder coating process, and maintain supply levels
- Inform management of any discrepancies that arise and aid in correcting the problem
- Conduct safety inspection of applicable equipment to the department as defined
- Identify and present to management, possible improvements in processes, equipment, layout, etc.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate and two years increasingly responsible experience in a powder coating production environment
- Good working knowledge of packaging, assembly, painting, and production equipment and processes
- Modern warehousing and storekeeping procedures including shipping, receiving, proper and orderly storage, optimum space utilization and stock inventory procedures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
- Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
- Proper forklift operation, safety, and certification
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing warehouse environment.
Physical Demands
Powder coaters must be able to spend extensive duration of time standing or sitting during the scheduled shift. They must be ready and able to bend at the knees and waist, move fingers and hands. Must wear all necessary PPE always.
