Production Fabricator/Welder

As a Junior Production Fabricator/Welder, you are taking direction from our Development Manager concerning what we should be producing and by when…we essentially respond to the customer demand of our various products that we make. You will also take direction from our Senior Production Fabricator/Welder. You will be completing production runs of high-performance automotive parts made of aluminum, steel, and stainless steel. You may be assisting with production planning, material handling, and unloading trucks or materials as they come in. You will be converting raw materials into finished goods or unfinished sub-assemblies ready for the next step in the production process, which includes all steps of the welding preparation process. You will be building production jigs for assembly purposes and working with our Quality Management Team to determine the best means of validating that the finished goods are performing as intended. We want all of our customers to get exactly what they ordered, shipped as they requested so that we can continue to dazzle our customers.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE OF WORK INCLUDE:

  • You will prepare and complete prototype or batch production runs of bent aluminum and stainless steel tubing.
  • You will be responsible for handling material and moving materials to other areas within the production area.
  • You will be learning from others and contributing with how to improve upon the fabrication and welding techniques.
  • You will prepare for full physical inventory counts. (All inventory adjustments, assemblies, and transfers must be completed prior to conducting the full physical inventory counts. This includes requesting inventory level verifications from all offsite locations.) You may help complete cycle counts as well as help Identify and resolve discrepancies in inventory.
  • You will assist Inventory Control with consolidating current inventory when necessary.
  • You will help maintain a “nothing on the floor” policy.
  • You will be using an electric CNC pipe bender (with both aluminum and stainless steel) to validate production designs and to build production runs of various COBB product.
  • You will sweep, dust, and mop (if necessary), and keep the workstations orderly at all times.
  • You will be responsible for quarantining inventory that has not met our specifications, which will include completing (or communicating) multiple transactions without our ERP system to maintain inventory accuracy.
  • You will work with other team members to understand and continuously improve key performance metrics for the department.
  • You will participate in 5S planning, implementation, and review processes in order to keep your workstations clean and ready for the next production run/day.
  • You will notify the Procurement Team when any materials are low (Kanban levels).
  • You will work with our Procurement Team to ensure that we are providing our suppliers with the necessary feedback on packaging quality to help determine and permanently resolve the root cause of any shipment issues.
  • You will help demonstrate sustainable fabrication and welding practices by always wearing the proper safety equipment, and following best safety practices.

PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • You have completed one or both of the following certifications from Lincoln Electric Welding School; Motorsports – Basic Materials & Motorsports – Advanced Materials
  • You have some exposure to automobile engine operation and aftermarket performance hardware operation.
  • You have experience with using office collaboration software such as GoogleDocs and are competent with MS Office suites.
  • You are able to operate a stand-up and/or standard forklift (having a current forklift certification is ideal).
  • You have experience designing and fabricating and installing custom performance automotive components.
  • You have experience designing and fabricating custom fixtures, jigs, and tooling.
  • You have experience with NetSuite ERP system.
  • Owning a cool car or truck does not hurt.
  • You have used COBB products before.
