Job Description

The Product Specialist is responsible for providing weld process expertise through a technical understanding of the Entire ITW Welding Portfolio including welding equipment & consumables. The primary focus will be to identify and drive growth opportunities across the ITW Welding portfolio via the presentation of ITW solutions that deliver customer value through documented process improvements. Likewise, the development and execution of strategies to defend significant ITW positions within regional accounts where they play a "lead role" is key to sustained growth. In other accounts, the specialist plays a supporting role in the sales process related to technical support.

This position will be based at the ITW Technical Center in Houston, Texas and will provide welding application support for North America. The interested candidate must live in the Houston, TX metro area or being willing to relocate to Houston, TX. No other areas will be considered.

Essential Functions:

  • Serve as SME driving welding process enhancements for ITW customers.
  • Apply process, product, and technical expertise to convert filler metal, equipment, MIG Gun products and other ITW sales opportunities.
  • Collaborative account planning with ITW Welding sales team to convert/earn end user business.
  • May coordinate the involvement of the appropriate divisional resources to assist with specific sales opportunities. Liaison with the divisions relative to competitive positioning (value prop); innovation opportunities, VOC needs, provide expertise from division to regional teammates.
  • Create compelling, fact-based presentations that monetize the value of ITW solutions to end user customers.
  • Conduct product demonstrations as necessary to demonstrate the value of ITW solutions and drive product conversions.
  • Maintain consistent verbal/written communications and key activities between ITW sales, distributor partners, key end users, and ITW operating divisions.
  • Provide strategic training & technical support for key end-users and distribution partners.
  • Effectively manage assigned territory and prioritize through an 80/20 mindset of key accounts and activities.

Qualifications

  • BS in Welding Engineering or Welding Engineering Technology degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years prior experience in welding industry
  • Subject matter expert in manufacturing welding processes and welding variables
  • Full welding portfolio knowledge/understanding required
  • Technically conversant in latest welding/automation technology plus experience with welding codes
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector qualification required
  • Strong business acumen required
  • Ability to develop strategic plans and proposals around current customer landscape
  • Hands-on welding ability, preferably in a manufacturing or fabrication environment
  • Ability to communicate with and build relationships with key decision makers and influencers
  • Strategic selling skills with a command of value-added sales techniques to support conversion process. Lead or support the ITW Welding Sales Process.
  • Strong Communication, presentation, time/project management, collaboration and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and CRM system
  • Ability to travel overnight at least 50%
  • Bilingual language skills preferred
