Job Description

BASIC DESCRIPTION:

We are looking for a positive professional that has the ability to work well in a fast-paced, dynamic manufacturing setting. Together with the Operations Team, this position will influence and execute safety initiatives, ITW Toolbox projects, and overall process improvements. They shall have a proven track record in driving actions that achieve results in key areas of the business including safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost savings. This individual will also be responsible for facilitating and implementing best practices and manufacturing improvements throughout the division.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Together with the Operations staff, lead safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost-saving initiatives through employee involvement and use of the ITW toolbox.
  • Collaborate with production personnel and management to effectively support safety-related initiatives.
  • Actively work with Safety Committees and risk assessments to create and drive safety solutions throughout the division.
  • Lead ergonomic projects and optimization throughout the business.
  • Study assembly operations to develop manufacturing methods, labor utilization standards, and training tools.
  • Perform time and motions studies, establish takt times, develop efficiency-related KPIs and visual tracking methods.
  • Make recommendations to existing processes that will improve safety, quality, and productivity while reducing risk, cost, and scrap.
    • Fully own technical milestones in project timelines; ensure on-time product delivery.
  • Understand, maintain, and continually improve manufacturing/assembly processes as related to safety, quality, efficiency, and delivery.
  • Display strong decision-making skills in a high-pressured environment.
  • Allocate time appropriately in production to improve conversion cost and have a functional understanding of production equipment and its effects on operations.
  • Utilize 80/20 in managing all aspects of the role.
  • Analyze problems and sources of conflict, explore and select solutions, implement an action plan, and resolve issues.
  • Encourage employee ownership of operations, products, and processes.
  • Manage external contractors and internal maintenance support resources as needed.
  • Act as a coach/trainer for critical manufacturing/assembly processes.
  • Communicate the status of Toolbox projects, identifying barriers and recommended solutions.
  • Demonstrate and encourage effective communication to personnel at all levels within the organization.
  • Resolve problems causing production shutdown, substandard production, and or low efficiencies whenever they occur.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or related field
  • 2-5 years of professional work experience in an Engineering capacity, internships included.
  • Detailed understanding of production/assembly equipment, and its interrelationship with production flow and efficiency
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude, takes personal accountability, listens, is approachable, and exhibits encouragement of diverse ideas.
  • Displays great organizational skills with an understanding of prioritization.
  • Proven record of building relationships, influencing change, and driving results.
  • Strong initiative and follow-through, with the drive to learn.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCad, and Solid Works is desirable.
