Process Engineer

Process Engineer – Privately held high performance vehicle brake manufacturer located near Charlotte, NC is searching for Engineering insight and development.

PFC Brakes is an innovative company that is highly successful in the fields ranging from Motorsports and production of parts for Porsche race cars, to OEM (new vehicle) applications, to commercial vehicle fleets.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to Process Engineering Team
  • Process development and automation in production of high performance wheel end products.
  • Providing technical support to design engineering team

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical Engineering (or related field) and 2-10 years of engineering experience within the high performance or commercial vehicle segment (preferably brake or wheel end). He of she should have a track record of success process development supporting sales growth.

The successful candidate will work with other engineers and help lead innovation in production of brake pads and other components.

The core experience and skills that will help a successful candidate include experience with compression molding, especially of composites; development and instrumentation of molding processes; installation of new equipment as we expand and renovate our processes; instrumentation to measure process efficiencies; relocation of new or existing equipment for improved process flow through the plant.

Also further innovation in the weighing of mold charges, distribution of materials in the mold cavities, curing of thermo-set materials in the mold, curing of semi-cured composites outside of molding, and careful control of product dimensional results as the product goes through a multi-step process. These controls affect product performance in the field.

This individual may be involved in: DFM and value analysis, 2D CAD, 3D CAD, GDT, Stack studies-max & RMS, FEA—linear static, FEA—linear dynamic, FEA—steady-state heat transfer, FEA—transient heat transfer, Design Analysis, Design of Experiments—analysis of variations, Foundation Brake Concepts, Lab test specifications & procedures-dyno, bench, Vehicle test specifications & procedures, Core Tools--DFMEA, SAE specifications that apply. SPC is used throughout production.

Must be willing to relocate if needed to the Charlotte, NC area..
