Principal Engineer for Battery Design

Williams Advanced Engineering are currently recruiting for a Principal Engineer – Battery Design reporting to the Chief Engineer – Battery Systems. This is a key role where the successful individual will be working with a broad spectrum of engineering disciplines within the engineering group and leading the mechanical design of battery concepts for multiple projects.

The Principal Engineer will be responsible for developing a range of designs from initial concepts through to designs capable of volume production. This will involve working closely with a range of customers, interpreting their requirements and delivering engineered solutions within weight, cost and timing targets.

Operational duties will include working with business development and project teams to undertake a range of mechanical, composite or electrical designs for a broad customer base. Working closely with purchasing and production departments to ensure cost and manufacturing capability will also be important.

The successful individual will be responsible for progressing HV battery engineering designs from initial concepts through to detail design, working within customers cost and timing requirements. They will be responsible for component design and detailing using Siemens NX and TeamCentre. A working knowledge of CATIA V5 would be advantageous

The successful candidate will have extensive experience of mechanical design for lithium ion traction batteries. They will have a High level of CAD literacy in Siemens NX and TeamCentre. An ability to use their own initiative, respond quickly to problems and be able to manage their own workload and projects.
