Power Electronics Product Engineer

This technology role supports/challenges/leads the development of breakthrough boosting electrified technologies in the engineering domain of high speed controllers internally or with selected suppliers.

These new technologies are going to be used in automotive applications in motorsport and modern passenger cars.

Job responsibilities

  • Participate (as part of larger team) on the definition of system requirements, concept development, and design of high speed drives
  • Clearly define project goals and address critical gaps
  • Plan and lead the program that validates the feasibility of the technical concept, including the design, analysis and optimization, component procurement, integration, and testing
  • Solving of EMC/EMI problems, applying industry standard solutions, their measurement and simulation, working with customers
  • Designing topology of high speed AC and DC motors/controllers and optimization of performance tailored to product requirements
  • Recommending product improvements, cost reduction options, and production methods to enhance product cost and/or quality
  • Develop Intellectual Property capturing these new technologies
  • Perform root cause failure analysis of controller test failures

Qualifications

  • Graduate Engineer, PhD. student, preferably electrical engineering control or automation, or similar engineering degree
  • Previous working experience, preferably in high speed electrical machines industry, automotive industry domain knowledge is a plus (not a condition)
  • In-depth knowledge of power electronics, motor control techniques, preferably also electrical machines
  • Familiar with VDA, ISO & other standards relating to the field
  • Fluent in spoken and written English. Second language is a plus.
  • Personal flexibility to travel world-wide
  • Knowledge of Matlab/Simulink (Simscape), SPICE, etc.
  • Poses and expand in depth understanding of driving techniques of different motor technologies (power electronics design & control strategy ) and their simulation
  • Understanding of EMC/EMI problems, solutions and industry standards
  • Good Knowledge of power electronics components, base knowledge of industrialization, manufacturing methods etc.
