Poduction Design Release Engineer

Position Overview
To accelerate the growth of the company and complete the transition into a tier-1 supplier of high-performance, niche systems, Pratt & Miller is looking for an experienced Design & Release Engineer to focus on driving product to market. The Design & Release Engineer will be responsible for providing technical product development expertise to bring prototype systems to a production ready, validated product. This position will be responsible for executing product design, while understanding the compromises among performance, manufacturability, robust assembly and cost. This positionwill drive products through the product development process, documenting requirements to meet gates and project milestones.

Responsibilities 

  • Develop products & systems for production, including design, structural analysis, system modeling, stack-up analysis, DFM/DFA studies and release documentation
  • Support regular project meetings, internallyand externally with customers and suppliers, to ensure team alignment, consistent communication and successful project execution
  • Establish and track timing plans to achievehigh level milestones
  • Identify risks to project deliverables and develop mitigating action plans

Essential Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience leading teams bringing highperformance products and systems to production
  • Expertise in DFM and DFA, DFMEA, PFMEA andlifecycle management
  • Test design and design validation plan(DVP&R) experience
  • Experience in tolerance stack-up analysis ofcomplex systems and bolted joints
  • Product cost optimization by design methods
  • Experience in following and driving projectsto a product development process
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Experiencewith production manufacturing processes (plastic, composites, & metallic), coatings, requirements and associated tooling
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T (Y14.5)
  • Knowledge of CAD systems and design software

Desired Experience and Education

  • BS or MS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical, Aerospace, or Automotive
  • Minimum 7 years design and release experience in automotive, defense, powersports, or robotics industries; preferably at a Tier 1 automotive supplier

Other Requirements

  • Some travel may be required depending,generally less than 10%
  • This position may require lawful access toITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role may need to meet those requirements. Requirements would include US Citizenship, US Permanent Resident or ability to meet licensure requirements

Work Environment 

Work will typically be performed in a team-based office environment. Travel maybe required for customer and supplier meetings, off-site training, off-site testing, and attendance at industry conferences.
