Position:

We are currently looking for a Performance Methods Engineer and an Aerothermal Methods Engineer to drive internal tool development within the Systems Architecture, Performance and Aerothermal team.

In this role you'll be responsible for the development and maintenance of in-house aerothermal or performance tools and processes (e.g. heat exchanger analysis codes, optimisation tools, CFD toolchain methods, engine cycle models, etc) to support Reaction Engines’ products and strategic programmes.

You will also be required to contribute to project work by conducting aerothermal or performance analysis as part of multidisciplinary project teams, and supporting verification and validation activities.

You'll be contributing to methods and tools development and may be deployed to projects in support of any or all of the following key business priorities:

  • Commercial projects within Applied Technologies, bringing SABRE technology to other markets, including the motorsport, green aviation, and energy sectors
  • The next phase of SABRE design & development and simplifying space access
  • Realising high-speed flight

Requirements:

About you

You'll need to have:

  • In depth knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and heat transfer
  • Experience of engineering software development, testing, documentation, and version control
  • Strong MATLAB and C++ programming ability (Performance toolset) and/or strong Python scripting ability (for Aerothermal toolset)
  • A Masters degree level in a STEM subject
  • A flair for coding scientific methods, analytical skills suited to engineering problem solving, and enjoyment of hands-on technical tasks

Salary: £34,000 to £45,000, depending on experience

Working hours: Full time, Monday to Friday, 35 hours per week. Flexible working arrangements will be considered
