Job Description:

Summary:

NASCAR seeks a talented professional to join in the position of an Office Manager based at Darlington Raceway. This position will provide administrative and secretarial support to the President in a professional, confidential, and effective manner facilitating the effective operations of the President’s office. The Office Manager position requires advanced computer skills, project coordination experience and the ability to work professionally with all levels of the internal management and staff as well as external customers, sponsors, etc.

  • be able to recognize and identify important business contacts (sponsors, media, sanctioning bodies, industry, etc.)
  • maintain a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • The Office Manager will provide ongoing support to the President, handling all aspects of daily business requirements including scheduling and calendar management, management reporting/information management, travel arrangements, correspondence, and interactions as a liaison between senior management and clients/colleagues to facilitate work and accomplish objectives in a collaborative effort.
  • In addition to the primary role of supporting the President, will also be available to provide back up support for other executives as follows:
    • Coordinate and plan travel arrangements, and recommend the most cost-effective itineraries
    • Schedule appointments, confirm changes or delays, and make necessary changes, with guidance as necessary
    • Coordinate meetings and make arrangements for conferences, meetings and events, including catering as needed
    • Provide phone coverage and back up for front reception
    • Other duties may be assigned.
  • Manage Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum

No travel is required. However, depending on the schedule, hours will vary but will include evenings, weekends, holidays, and long days on event days and nights.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • This position manages the receptionist position and oversees the operation of the front desk.
  • Manages seasonal/event workers during events.

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree or equivalent from two-year College is preferred or minimum of three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions and inquiries from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages and to draw and interpret information to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in a written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts such as printers, fax machine, and copier. The employee is occasionally exposed to outdoor weather. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. The employee is occasionally exposed to loud event time noise.
