Occupational Safety & Health Coordinator

Your Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assists Manager in the development, maintenance, and achievement of OSH goals in support of the organizations strategic initiatives. Serves as a Safety Champion, subject matter expert and resource to the organization
  • Facilitates risk assessment at Plant Hamilton to identify critical OSH hazards and aspects. Works with leadership team to create targets and objectives based on key OSH risks
  • Supports OSH goals for Plant Hamilton and appropriate activity based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive OSH culture, compliance, and results
  • Plans, develops and implements safety training for new employee orientation and annual required programs including auditing processes and standards. Drives and promotes zero incident OSH culture throughout Bilstein of America
  • Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conducts and coordinates on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provides advice and counseling for all compliance regulations. Compiles, analyzes, interprets and reports accidents. Reviews property and injury reports
  • Supports OSH engagement through OSH teams and committees needed to accomplish the established targets and objectives for the year
  • Works with leadership team and site OSH champions to complete an annual evaluation/audit of compliance for OSH regulations
  • Pursues third party recognition for programs that establish Bilstein’s OSH program as world class
  • Uses established OSH data processes to manage data such as injuries and illnesses, environmental metrics, risk assessments, OSH action items and other pertinent information
  • Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion
  • Work with site leadership team and facilities to ensure that all key OSH operational controls are in place, on a PM program, and that OSH action items are resolved on a timely basis
  • Ensure compliance to all federal, state, local laws, regulations, rules and codes including but limited to EPA, OSHA, etc.
  • Coordinates OSHA trainings for new and existing employees where necessary
  • Coordinates development and implementation of hazardous materials procedure and policies as applicable
  • Monitors, revises and implements ongoing updates in safety regulations, laws or reporting requirements
  • Serves as the leader in accountability of sustaining continuous improvement with Safety while leading multiple projects
  • Accountable for the execution of all site Environmental Permit Compliance, including air, storm water, water, spill control and wastewater. Ensures all testing required through permits and company standards are met on time
  • Executes proper management of the sites hazardous waste management activities to ensure 100% compliance with federal, state, local and company regulations and standards
  • Maintains the onsite environmental manuals and updates according to Mars standard and schedule

Your Profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Demonstrated leadership in driving a program/system of safety or environmental in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven experience leading safety, environmental, and health management and compliance in a supervisor role within a manufacturing arena
  • Strong safety regulatory knowledge and expertise, required including EPA, OSHA and DOT
  • Experience with hazard recognition, behavioral-based safety, job hazard analysis and Process Hazards Analysis
  • Possesses a high level of technical expertise, ability to apply skills to continuous improvement while maintaining maximum levels of safety
  • Strong work ethic, decisive, and ambitious with an unwavering commitment to safety and security for all employees and company properties
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities
  • Excellent communication skills up and down the organizational structure
  • Possesses ad demonstrates strong planning, organizational and follow up skills
  • Results-orientated with proven ability to organize, plan and prioritize

  • Detailed knowledge and use of Microsoft Office

Education:

Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in science (engineering, chemistry, safety, etc.)
