NDT & Mechanical Inspection Technician

We are looking for a NDT and Mechanical Inspection Technician to join our F1 team based at Silverstone, Northampton
The NDT and Mechanical Inspection Technician will assist both NDT and mechanical inspection related duties in support of the daily operations of the Inspection Department

This is initially a factory based role at our Silverstone facility.

An open approach to flexible working hours is required.

The key functions of the candidate will be:

  • NDT support for all aspects of the team’s requirements to include new product support and turn round servicing
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings or process specifications and provide relevant information to department heads as required
  • Ensuring strict adherence to specifications
  • Apply testing criteria in accordance with applicable specifications or standards and evaluate results
  • Perform incoming and final inspection of products to meet customer requirements
  • Complete inspection documentation, procedures and reports, and update computerised management system as required

 

Required Skills:

  • UT – in Carbon composite materials
  • MPI - in Fixed installations & Bench top application e.g. permanent magnet, ac/dc equipment.
  • Dye Penetrant -, Fluorescent and daylight visible application. Ferrous and Aluminium Alloys.
  • Eddy Current – Ferrous, Aluminium Alloys and Titanium materials
  • Must hold a minimum Level 2 qualification (PCN/EN 4179).
  • Must have proven NDT experience
              

Preferred additional skills:

  • Proof loading test experience preferred.         
  • Experience using Romer Arm scanners and using Polyworks software or equivalent (training will be provided for suitable candidates)
  • High level of competency in the use of all other measuring equipment
  • Must have excellent attention to detail ensure high quality components are delivered within the timescales required
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience of detailed inspection of complex components and assemblies to the highest industry standards
  • Able to read and understand NDT specifications and procedures
  • Proficient in NDT Report writing
  • Must have the ability to produce quality work whilst working under pressure
  • Must be able to work with little or no supervision
  • Must have excellent communication skills and the ability to contribute in a team environment
  • Must be willing to learn and take on board new skills
  • Must be computer literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause and systematically solve problems
  • Flexible and willing to accept new challenges
     
    Successful candidates will have experience of working within a low volume/high value precision engineering manufacturing environment, highly organised with excellent attention to detail and able to rigorously follow defined processes.
