Model Technician

The Position:

We are currently recruiting for a capable and proficient Model Technician to join our Aerodynamics Department. 

Role Purpose:

As a Model Technician, you’ll be involved in manufacturing, prefitting and testing of the 60% Wind Tunnel Model.

 

The successful candidates will ideally have previous experience of model-making in a high level motorsport environment, have a good attention to detail, work calmly and accurately under pressure, work positively and enthusiastically in a small team and have a flexible attitude to helping fulfil the requirements of the department.

Key Operational Duties:

  • Responsible for building assemblies prior to test; to high standards and tight tolerances.

  • Take parts through from build to test, using a variety of materials and processes. Including: 3D printed parts, Machined metallics, Carbon Fibre, Sintered materials and more.

  • Use high level metrology equipment to aid the prefitting and building process to ensure high levels of accuracy.

  • Be part of a high-performance team, in a fast-paced environment; to ensure we execute programs with maximum efficiency.

  • Work closely with Aerodynamicists and Model Designers to maximise our learning and feedback future improvements.

 

Ideal Credentials

  • Previous experience as a Model maker, race mechanic or similar field.

  • Excellent knowledge of part fitment and building of subassemblies.

  • To have high level of experience with the various materials/processes used in the environment.

  • To be enthusiastic, motivated and driven to succeed.

  • Possess good IT skills.

  • Work well under pressure to meet time critical deadlines.

  • To have high levels of responsibility and accountability for their work.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal combined with the ability to work well with colleagues.
