Metallic Machinist - Nights

We have invested heavily in our machining capabilities, introducing new, state of the art DMG machines, and diversifying our shift patterns to offer a work life balance of our team member.

 

The position:

Machinist (CNC Milling) to join our team in the Machine Shop. The primary focus will be producing complex components for the Race Car and associated jigs and fixtures on our DMG 5-Axis machining centres. Our department objective is to produce key parts in the most efficient, cost effective way, maintaining tight delivery deadlines whilst maintaining a high standard of work.

Candidates will actively contribute to the department goals, working both collaboratively and individually to achieve this. A strong work ethic and a positive approach to continuous improvement will be important to you as these values contribute to a successful team. Written and verbal communication skills are important attributes ensuring accurate information is given across shifts and the department. Liaising with our NC Programming department is a key facet to this role to ensure new program prove outs are carried out in an effective manner. You will ensure that all shop floor documentation is completed as required along with accurate bookings onto our Shop Floor Data Collection software recording machine utilisation and productivity.

 

Skills you'll use every day:

The successful candidate will demonstrate a good level of knowledge manufacturing metallic and non-metallic components from aircraft grade metallics and high-quality engineering plastics. A strong knowledge of setting and operating Fanuc/Siemens controlled machining centres is required. The ability to program manually and/or conversationally would be advantageous. The need to run multiple machines and plan-ahead is regularly required.

 

Core Skills:

Candidates should ideally possess a recognised apprenticeship or have gained relevant experience in a precision engineering environment. A sound knowledge of G-code programming (Fanuc and Siemens) would be advantageous. Candidates should be able to demonstrate a good depth of machining knowledge both CNC and Manual in a low volume, high accuracy, fast paced prototype environment.

 

The person:

Take pride in their work and be capable of working with a minimum of supervision with attention to detail whilst displaying a ‘can do’ attitude. A high degree of flexibility, self-motivation, team ethic and initiative are critical for success in this role. Due to the nature of the business it may be required to work extended hours on occasion to service the needs of the Team.

 

Please note this is for the following shift: Night shift – Monday - Thursday
