Mechanical Inspector

Williams is one of the world’s most established Formula 1 teams. It exists purely to race in the top echelon of motor racing, where it has been winning Grands Prix for more than three decades. The Williams name has been synonymous with top-level motorsport since the 1960s.

The position:

We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Inspector to join our Inspection team. The role consists of measuring and checking parts for conformance to specification or performing other metrology and analysis tasks. Components could be made by any of the prevailing techniques used in Formula 1 vehicle manufacture – but predominantly metallic machining and carbon-fibre composites.

The role:

The role will include completing routine and complex inspection processes using hand and bench-top tools. You will be working in a team whilst also comfortable working independently when needed. You will be proactive and able to work at a sustainable pace. The role requires knowledge of components and parts manufactured in a variety of materials including carbon-fibre composites, metals and plastics. You will have confidence to independently draw meaningful conclusions on part quality. You will ensure that all relevant data regarding the work is kept up to date and accurate.

Skills you'll use every day:

Your knowledge of manufacturing technologies relating to metallic and/or composite components. You will be using metrology tools and methods; visual inspection; programming and operating co-ordinate measuring machines (CMM), using the operational software PC-DMIS; operating portable measuring arms using Polyworks; and in conjunction with the Team Leader, ensure that parts are inspected and processed during the required time periods. You will have excellent communication and the skills to report pertinent information to designers, manufacturers and other inspectors, as required. You will take pride in your work and be able to operate with minimum supervision. Effective organisation is a necessity along with a proactive approach to using procedures that encourage continuous improvement.

Education and experience:

You will possess a recognised apprenticeship or relevant experience in a similar environment

Shifts available:

For these roles we have a choice of three shifts available:

4 days on, 4 days off

Alternating early/late shift

Nights
