Job Description

The TIG Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Mechanical Engineer. This position is an entry level role that supports current products with guidance from a more experienced engineer and will also support product development activities, as required.

We are looking for a positive, highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well both in a team and individually.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Direct involvement in all design activities including: CAD design, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, reliability, and 3rd party compliance testing, documentation, product introduction, and manufacturing support.
  • Work with other engineers, technicians, service, and manufacturing personnel to create and implement reliable, cost-effective, streamlined, and simplified, product solutions
  • Design and document components and assemblies using SolidWorks
  • Work with suppliers throughout the development of the project to ensure material costs and schedule stays on target
  • Participate in all phases of new product development (Discover, Create, Develop and Deploy)

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant industry experience preferred
  • Proven track record of innovative designs, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, and time management skills
  • Proficiency in computer design skills and knowledge in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks Simulation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
  • Must be a team player with a positive attitude, high motivation and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles; statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, mechanical vibrations, heat transfer, material selection and physics
  • Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS A PLUS:

  • Sheet metal, thermoplastic, thermoset, die cast, sand cast, machining, and extrusion design knowledge
  • Ability to select, analyze and test materials for functionality, durability and cost effectiveness
  • Ability to analyze and solve thermal design challenges
  • AC and DC motor knowledge
  • Familiarity with regulatory standards CSA, IEC, and UL
  • Proven track record of innovation, design and margin improvements
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in customer focused innovation
  • Tool design knowledge
  • Experience with additive manufacturing and prototyping
