Job Description
The TIG Division is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Mechanical Engineer. This position is an entry level role that supports current products with guidance from a more experienced engineer and will also support product development activities, as required.
We are looking for a positive, highly motivated individual with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well both in a team and individually.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Direct involvement in all design activities including: CAD design, fabricating, assembling, troubleshooting, reliability, and 3rd party compliance testing, documentation, product introduction, and manufacturing support.
- Work with other engineers, technicians, service, and manufacturing personnel to create and implement reliable, cost-effective, streamlined, and simplified, product solutions
- Design and document components and assemblies using SolidWorks
- Work with suppliers throughout the development of the project to ensure material costs and schedule stays on target
- Participate in all phases of new product development (Discover, Create, Develop and Deploy)
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with relevant industry experience preferred
- Proven track record of innovative designs, Design for Manufacturing and Assembly, and time management skills
- Proficiency in computer design skills and knowledge in SolidWorks, SolidWorks PDM, SolidWorks Simulation, AutoCAD and Microsoft Office
- Must be a team player with a positive attitude, high motivation and excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Solid understanding of fundamental mechanical engineering principles; statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, mechanical vibrations, heat transfer, material selection and physics
- Travel up to 10% of the time may be required.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS A PLUS:
- Sheet metal, thermoplastic, thermoset, die cast, sand cast, machining, and extrusion design knowledge
- Ability to select, analyze and test materials for functionality, durability and cost effectiveness
- Ability to analyze and solve thermal design challenges
- AC and DC motor knowledge
- Familiarity with regulatory standards CSA, IEC, and UL
- Proven track record of innovation, design and margin improvements
- Project management skills
- Experience in customer focused innovation
- Tool design knowledge
- Experience with additive manufacturing and prototyping
