MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Fox Factory is currently seeking to fill a Mechanical Design Engineer position. You will be part of a dynamic group of employees with a love and passion for cars. This position will focus on our Aftermarket Products to ensure that all products engineered by FOX Factory meets customer requirements and specifications and is actively engaged in ongoing product development and optimization.  We are looking for a well-rounded employee who is not afraid of a multitude of different tasks and presenting their own ideas.

The ideal candidate is a fellow car enthusiast who is diligent and resourceful, has strong organizational skills, and is proficient in both ProE design and hands-on automotive work. This position involves the design and development of all FOX off-road mechanical projects.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates customer product requirements and develops product designs in compression, extension, torsion springs, hot coil/cold coiled suspension springs, and metal stampings.
  • Use ProE modeling software to create components, assemblies, and engineering drawings for manufacturing
  • Validate designs virtually with FEA and CFD along with real world validation using test jigs, dynamometer, etc.
  • Create and maintain Bill of Materials (BOM) along with all project documentation
  • Create internal and external product assembly and installation instructions
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams to support the core business, ensuring quality products are delivered on time.
  • Participates in field testing and evaluation as necessary.
  • Work with internal procurement and fabrication departments through entire design process and product life cycle 

 

Skills & Requirements:

  • BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong CAD (ProE) skills
  • Proficient understanding of designing for particular manufacturing processes (machining, sheet metal, tube bending, casting, etc.)
  • Mechanically inclined and comfortable working on cars
  • Five (5) years’ relevant experience in shock design, preferably in the racing or 
    high performance industry.

Preferred but not required:

  • SAE or other automotive experience
  • 3D Scanning, surfacing, and printing experience
  • Some CNC or general machine shop experience
