Mechanical Design Engineer - Test Systems

Are you a Mechanical Design Engineer seeking a role in an e-drive technology manufacturer?

We are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to develop the test systems which put our e-drive machines through their paces, pushing the limits of their performance, durability and reliability. There will also be a longer-term opportunity to learn how to design and develop the innovative motors and inverters we are increasingly becoming known for.

About Us

Innovation is at the heart of everything we do here at Integral Powertrain (IP). Our e-drive technology has set new standards in electric powertrain, smashed world records and recognised with a multitude of industry awards.

For over 20 years you will have seen our products in action in prestigious high-performance vehicles including most recently the Lotus Evija and Aston Martin Valkyrie. We have also supported many motorsport teams to achieve great things on the track.

We are building our name on ground-breaking technology, in some cases – products that our customers previously didn’t think were possible! We love what we do, come and engineer the future with us!

As an employee of Integral Powertrain, you will receive ongoing personal development, training opportunities and a generous benefits package including a Contributory Pension Scheme, Life assurance and Private medical insurance.

  • Produce conceptual designs, costs and timing plans for test equipment, then producing final designs for new test equipment/systems following the conceptual design
  • Oversee the assembly phase for each project
  • Carry out risk assessments for all test equipment to ensure safe systems and procedures and provide engineering input to support test equipment maintenance
  • Increasingly undertake motor design duties; designing components, systems and products for a variety of customer projects in the automotive, aerospace and motorsport sectors
  • Use first principles of engineering and hand calculations to validate design solutions
  • Interpret and analyse simulation results and data
  • Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected problems and provide potential solutions

About you

  • Ideally degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant technical subject
  • Proven and skilled use of CATIA software / 3DExperience packages
  • Experienced in designing special purpose, electro-mechanical products, components and systems
  • General understanding of analysis such as FEA, CFD and simulation techniques would be beneficial
